This website is a private reference guide, not a government office. We cannot confirm whether someone is in custody, release a person, post bond, schedule visitation, or obtain official booking records for you. Use the official St. Mary's County offices below for custody, records, court, and emergency matters.

Official Offices for Jail and Records Questions

For emergencies, call 911. The sheriff contact page also states that crimes or suspicious activity should not be emailed; email is monitored only during regular business hours Monday through Friday.

  • Sheriff's Office headquarters: St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office, 23150 Leonard Hall Drive, Leonardtown, MD 20650; phone (301) 475-4040.
  • Detention center: St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, 41880 Baldridge Street, Leonardtown, MD 20650; phone (301) 475-4200 x2200. The app-hosted roster footer also lists x72200, and the county directory lists ext. 3200, so use the sheriff contact page number first and confirm the correct extension when calling.
  • Offense reports: (301) 475-4200 ext. 1994 or ext. 1991.
  • Accident reports: (301) 475-4200 ext. 1932. The records page lists a $5.00 accident-report fee for involved individuals, with cash or money order and no checks.

  • Records supervisor: (301) 475-4200 ext. 1990.

Victims of criminal investigations and drivers in motor-vehicle accidents may request copies of reports through the sheriff's records process. Requesters should have the date, time, and case number when available. Reports are mailed when ready, usually within ten working days.

For in-car video, radio transmissions, and broader Maryland Public Information Act requests, use the sheriff's NextRequest public-information portal or the official Public Information Request Form PDF. The PDF route includes dissemination by U.S. mail or pickup and MPIA timing language for requests that take longer than ten working days.

Use these pages to choose the right record path:

  • For someone currently in the St. Mary's County jail, start with jail inmate records.
  • For public booking photos, use jail roster mugshots.
  • For charges filed after booking, check court records after a jail arrest.
  • For facility-specific details, use the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center or Community Corrections Center pages in the footer.
  • For sentenced Maryland prisoners, use the Maryland DPSCS incarcerated individual locator instead of the county roster.
  • For federal sentenced custody or immigration detention, use the BOP locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator System.
